Support – Linux provides a very limited support for their technology when compared with the support provided by windows and it proves to be expensive. Linux is running on much specific technologies as compared to Windows which is much more generic.
Security and reliability – Often times the security features in Windows are not as superior as those used for Linux due to the fact that Windows is for the majority used for home PC, whereas Linux is mostly directed towards system engineers and developers. The probability of successful hack attack on Windows OS is a lot higher than Linux OS may also be contributed to their end users as people tend to look for flaws in these common systems.
In regards to performance, Linux is considered to have very high performance, mostly because of how they are packaged and presented. Linux plans prove to be more uniquely produced for their target clients. As opposed to these specific designs, Windows instead offers a more general package to all of their customers.
* Conversion – if there are plans for you to change your OS in the near future, then having a Linux web server now is fine as this conversion should be smooth and easy to have your website converted from Linux hosting to Windows hosting. However, if you are currently using Windows for hosting and are planning a switch to Linux, you can expect to have your work cut out for you, as it is an incredibly difficult switch.
